SXU to Host Spring Advising and Career Success Day

Saint Xavier University (SXU) will host its annual spring Advising and Career Success Day on Tuesday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at various locations on campus throughout the day, where students will connect with advisors, attend professional and personal development sessions focused on academic and career success, network with alumni and mentors, and explore internship and job opportunities at the College-to-Career Expo.
"The Student Advising Center, in collaboration with the Career Development Center, is thrilled to host Advising and Career Success Day for the spring 2025 semester! This year, we designed the sessions to help students engage more deeply with campus life while highlighting the valuable resources available to support their academic and career journeys. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore advising services, prepare for fall registration, and learn about exciting study-abroad opportunities. Join us for a day of connection, guidance, and success as we ensure every student feels like a valued member of the SXU community!" said Tatiana Alaraj, director of Advising.
From 9 to 10 a.m. in McGuire Hall and the Butler Reception Room, students can attend sessions related to job searching and career readiness. Advising fundamentals will be presented from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Warde Academic Center at various locations. Students can participate in a social networking event from 11 a.m. to noon in the Warde Academic Center and the College-to-Career Expo from noon to 2 p.m. in the Shannon Athletic and Convocation Center.
"The spring Advising and Career Success Day events are such great opportunities for students! They give them the chance to meet employers who will be offering summer internships, career experiences and more. Networking is a really important skill to master, and it begins with events like this," said James Miller, associate director of Employer Engagement and Internships. "It's never too soon to engage with your career, and by getting to know these businesses and organizations now, you can set yourself up for future success."
There will be 90 employers in attendance. Students are encouraged to print copies of their resumes and collect business cards from employers to network on LinkedIn later. Employers open to speaking to first-year students will be given "First-Year Friendly" table tents.
The Advising and Career Success Day team is excited to provide resources to students and give them this time to connect with faculty and advisors to answer questions they may have regarding their academic progression at SXU.
