SXU to Co-Sponsor Local Art Exhibited Curated by Nathan Peck
Saint Xavier University (SXU), along with the Beverly Area Arts Alliance, will sponsor dATAPLOT: Shared Hallucinations, a show about the evolution of AI and generative art with both snark and seriousness. Curated by art and design professor Nathan Peck, the work sits at the intersection of AI and DIY; ancient art and contemporary art; the library and the gallery; the virtual and the tangible; and the past and the future.
Artist Matthew Butler is a university librarian who works with Fluxus and Dada archives. With a background in intermedia art, Butler has been working in sound, video, printed works and AI for several decades.
"On one level, this is a reprise of a show I curated of Matthew's work 20 years ago. On another level, it is attempting to create work that can be recalled digitally 20 years from now," said Peck.
The show will open January 12 at the Beverly Arts Center (2407 W. 111th Street, Chicago, IL 60655) in the Simmerling Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. and will run through February 2. For more information, contact Peck at peck@sxu.edu.
