SXU Community Makes New Year's Resolutions
The Saint Xavier University (SXU) community is preparing for a meaningful 2025, and as the new year approaches, resolutions that are deeply connected to SXU's core values are at top of mind. Faculty, staff and student are chiming in about how they plan to integrate each core value more fully into their lives.
Respect: In the new year, I look forward to embracing the core value of respect so I can foster collaboration, encourage open communication, promote inclusivity, and enhance personal growth. My ears will be wide open to the diverse and valuable ideas around me, and I am eager to challenge my assumptions, strengthen relationships, and broaden my perspectives.
Excellence: It is important to me to actively pursue high standards in all I do. I plan to take full advantage of all the resources available to me at SXU so that I can continuously improve and reach personal fulfillment and success both in my academic career and future professional career.
Compassion: I have always been inspired by the compassion of our founding Sisters of Mercy. Focusing on compassion in 2025 will provide me with a sense of purpose. I want to encourage social responsibility and enrich the lives of those around me so we can live in a more supportive and connected world.
Service: In 2025, I plan to explore the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy and take an active role in responding to them. I look forward to participating in SXU's Spring Break Service Trip and other service opportunities throughout the year to make a positive impact on my community.
Hospitality: I am a resident assistant (RA) and spend a lot of time with our wonderful student residents, but since our campus has so many commuter students, I'd like to enhance my hospitality in 2025 so that commuters attend more of our on-campus events and make new friends and lasting memories.
Integrity: I look forward to aligning my actions with my values in 2025. With my students, I plan to create a foundation of trust and respect to build authenticity and contribute to an ethical environment that motivates and inspires them.
Diversity: I love walking through the halls of SXU and seeing the diversity that surrounds me. I look forward to becoming more engaged with our Office of Inclusive Excellence to help contribute to a culture that enhances the overall campus experience and ensures a more representative academic community.
Learning for Life: 2025 will be the year I embrace curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity to lead me to a richer and more fulfilling life. I plan to attend guest lectures, spend more time in SXU's library, participate in book clubs, and attend cultural events on campus. Continuous learning will help me to grow, adapt, and thrive in our ever-evolving world.
