Saint Xavier University (SXU) is living in gratitude this Thanksgiving season, reflecting on blessings and perpetuating the Mercy mission by giving back to the community.

For the fifth year in a row, the Office of University Relations collected non-perishable food items to benefit families seeking support from the Oak Lawn Pilgrim Faith Food Pantry. Collecting over 100 canned, boxed, and bagged items, the team was able to provide Thanksgiving meals to multiple families.

The SXU Schmitt Scholars and several staff members volunteered at Elsie's Food Pantry, located in the Savior Divine Lutheran Church in Palos Hills.  Approximately 200 residents visited the pantry for their annual Thanksgiving food drive.

Schmitt Scholars also volunteered at Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry located in Chicago. Over 300 residents visited the pantry for their annual Thanksgiving food drive.

SXU's Student Veterans Alliance (SVA) and Tau Sigma came together to create care packages and thank you cards to show support for the veteran community. They collected non-perishable snacks, toiletries, warm socks and gloves, and other essentials, followed by a care package assembly event.

The Saint Xavier community is committed to spreading gratitude in a meaningful way during the holiday season and throughout the year by cultivating community and enriching spirit.
