SXU to Host Advising and Career Success Day
Saint Xavier University (SXU) will host the fall 2023 Advising and Career Success Day on Wednesday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Shannon Athletic and Convocation Center.
Students will experience a day of transformation as they connect with advisors, attend professional and personal development sessions focused on academic and career success, network with alumni and mentors, and explore internship and job opportunities at the College-to-Career Expo.
"Saint Xavier University's Advising and Career Success Day aims to promote character and enhance competence for our students to ultimately build the confidence necessary to create professional relationships for career opportunities. Engaging in the College-to-Career Expo, students will have the opportunity to network with potential recruits from a variety of industries and organizations related to their specific majors and areas of interests. By connecting with their advisors, learning valuable skills through professional career development sessions, and networking with alumni and mentors, students will be well-equipped and empowered as they embark on their voyages of self-discovery and career success,” said Manal Kanaan, Ed.D., director of High Impact Practices.
By attending, students will learn how to gain and articulate experiences and skills valued by employers; effectively listen and communicate in the workplace; manage stress during a job search; navigate a diverse workplace; prepare for an interview, develop a resume, and navigate a job fair; and network and leverage relationships with career and industry professionals.
"Educating for career success is an integral component of our value proposition and the work we do in Student Success. A commitment to continued learning, personal growth, and networking is essential in unlocking the doors of opportunity. Advising and Career Success Day will provide students with a chance to invest in themselves and further enhance their academic and career skill sets. I know our students will find value in the sessions provided and see this event as a cornerstone to their academic and career success," said Josh Bogaski-Baugh, executive director of Student Success.
The College-to-Career Expo portion of the day is open to the public.
