SXU: Feeling Blessed and Giving Blessings for Christmas
Saint Xavier University (SXU) has been blessed this holiday season. From joining together as a community for festive events to participating in winter donation drives to help those in need, the magic of Christmas and the hope for a bright new year fills the halls of the Warde Academic Center.
The community kicked off December with First Friday Tea, a special tradition made festive with the addition of SXU's Chamber Singers, who treated the community to a variety of spirited holiday renditions while faculty and staff enjoyed tea, candy canes, and pastries.
The Future Teachers Association held a toy drive for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They collected art supplies, sensory toys, craft kits, books and more to give the young patients at the hospital a bit of Christmas cheer.
SXU's music ensembles came together to perform holiday favorites at the annual Christmas Spectacular, a beautiful event that the community looks forward to every year.
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) held a Winter Holiday Party in Pacelli Hall, where students gathered together to celebrate the holiday season and the end of a strong semester.
Cocoa and Caroling was a special get-together held in McDonough Chapel. The community started the event with noon mass and then gathered together in the vestibule to share cookies and hot cocoa and sing a cappella versions of Christmas favorites.
The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Division held a winter donation drive for residents of Misericordia. They collected hats, mittens, scarves, and gift cards to provide the residents with holiday gifts.
Faculty, staff and students joined Staff Council in decorating the tree outside the Butler Reception Room, sharing a cozy sense of warmth and camaraderie as they hung homemade ornaments.
Staff Council continued the Christmas spirit with the annual holiday party hosted in the Butler Reception Room. With live music from SXU's commercial band, Fish 'n' Chips, glittering decorations adorned across the room, and a joyful holiday spirit, the community connected merrily.
SXU is incredibly proud of and grateful for the faculty, staff, students and alumni that care so deeply for one another and the communities that surround them. It is truly a blessing to rejoice in the peace, joy and Mercy perpetuated by the Saint Xavier community. Merry Christmas!
