SXU Alumna Named Director of Selection and Recruiter Development
Saint Xavier University (SXU) alumna Tina Donoghue '08 has been named director of selection and recruiter development for Northwestern Mutual-Chicago. Donoghue has worked in recruitment for 14 years and looks forward to flourishing in her new role and making a bigger impact across the firm.
She will work to select financial advisors for the firm at a high level and will have a hand in training curriculum and monthly skill-building meetings. She's also recruiting for their new Hyde Park office.
"A good financial advisor is someone who has goals and dreams that outweigh their current opportunities, so I spend time looking for someone who wants to make an impact on others. My success is measured by how many advisors I bring in and how well they will do," said Donoghue.
Donoghue also recently received national recognition as a top recruiter. She focuses on keeping a positive attitude and always striving for more.
Donoghue has been recruiting since her time at SXU. She began working in the Office of Admission her senior year and recruited in colleges for the next 11 years. She received support and networking opportunities from colleagues even after she moved on from SXU, and they continue to keep in touch to this day.
"Working in the Office of Admission at SXU gave me great confidence. I learned to build and foster relationships," said Donoghue.
Donoghue chose to major in international studies because she loves learning about other people and found it was the perfect opportunity to study all different backgrounds. She was also able to have a study abroad experience in Rome, which she learned a lot from, and she forged great relationships with faculty and peers.
"Though I was a commuter student, I still felt like I was truly a part of the SXU community. I had some of the most brilliant professors who I continue to think of today. Classes were inclusive and I left with real knowledge," said Donoghue.
Donoghue was grateful for SXU's encouragement for students and alumni to propel the institution's Mercy mission forward, and she continues her involvement in service in a variety of ways. She serves as a member of Northwestern Mutual-Chicago's Childhood Cancer Philanthropic committee, which builds awareness and raises funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the Ronald McDonald House. Donoghue is also a member of the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club.
"I am blessed and grateful, and I enjoy giving back. It was great to go to a school that was so involved in service to the community, and I continue to carry that with me today," said Donoghue.
In the future, Donoghue plans to continue to grow with Northwestern Mutual-Chicago, make an impact in diverse communities, and propel forward their mission and vision of serving all communities with financial security.
