SXU Celebrates the Holiday Season
Saint Xavier University (SXU) is spreading holiday cheer all December long. Campus is decorated beautifully with Christmas decorations and the atmosphere is rich with the jubilance of celebrating SXU's 175th anniversary.
The holiday season kicked off with SXU's First Friday Tea, made festive with a special performance by the SXU Chamber singers. Faculty, staff and friends joined together to share tea and refreshments and catch up while hearing some of their favorite Christmas tunes.
SXU held its annual Christmas Spectacular in person again for 2021. The SXU Wind Ensemble, Chorale, Jazz Ensemble and more came together to offer concert attendees a magical experience in the Music Performance Space on campus.
Staff Council invited colleagues to participate in 'Deck the Halls,' an annual tree-decorating event where Saint Xavier staff came together with new and old ornaments to decorate the tree outside of the Butler Reception Room. They will also hold a holiday lunch complete with festive attire and a hot cocoa bar while collecting hats, gloves and socks to support A New Direction.
University Advancement offered a commemorative Saint Xavier University 175th anniversary Christmas ornament that not only makes for a special piece of SXU history, but supports student scholarships so SXU can continue to deliver on its promise of a Mercy education.
Commuter and resident students participated in fun holiday events such as Christmas Craft Night and 'Tis the Season, where students made holiday cards, watched seasonal favorites, and battled for best ugly holiday sweater. The Education Club also hosted a Christmas bake sale.
Departments and organizations across the University are celebrating the holiday season by carrying on the Mercy legacy and giving back to those in need. The National Alumni Board is collecting personal care items for residents of the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, which provides a safe home, educational support and career guidance for children who've experienced abuse or neglect.
Tau Sigma hosted a holiday party where attendees decorated holiday bags and Christmas cards for veterans hospital residents. To the bags, they added toiletries, candy canes, puzzles, playing cards, clothing and winter accessories.
SXU's core values and Mercy mission are truly exemplified by its community, and Saint Xavier wishes peace and good health to all this Christmas!
