SXU's Anna Gasienica Byrcyn Published in the Literary Encyclopedia
Anna Gąsienica Byrcyn, Ph.D., an adjunct professor in the Language and Literature Department, has published an entry on Halina Poswiatowska in the Literary Encyclopedia, Volume 1.8.3 Polish Writing and Culture.
Halina Poswiatowska (1935-1967) was a Polish modernist poet. She received a B.A. degree from Smith College and an M.A. in the history of philosophy from Jagiellonian University, having studied with the renowned phenemenologist and aesthetician Roman Ingarden, with a thesis entitled "Causality in John Stuart Mill's System of Logic". In 1964, Poswiatowska began to lecture in the Department of Philosophy at the Jagiellonian University while pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Warsaw. Her dissertation topic was "The Ethical Principles of Martin Luther King".
