SXU's Professor Nathan Peck Receives Professional Achievement Award
On Saturday, September 28, Saint Xavier University (SXU) Department Chair of Art and Design Nathan Peck received The Professional Achievement Award from Mount Mercy University, his alma mater. During their Alumni Reunion Weekend, Mount Mercy recognized alumni for professional accomplishments and service to the community. The Professional Achievement Award is awarded to a graduate for significant contribution or achievement in his or her professional field.
During his time at Mount Mercy, Peck was very active in art and theater programs. He was co-founder of an improv group called Have Mercy and was a photographer for the campus newspaper. Bringing the same energy and drive as an associate professor at SXU, Peck teaches techniques for bridging analog and digital art media. In 2018, he helped establish the University's Annual Research Expo. Peck has exhibited works in various art forms, including video, sculpture, painting and music. He is co-founder of the Chicago Art Department and has coordinated several pop-up galleries around Chicago, including a student/alumni gallery called Upfall.
This year, Peck was awarded a Lilly Faculty Fellowship. The Lilly Fellows program seeks to strengthen the quality and shape the character of church-related institutions of learning through programmatic initiatives. Peck will be working to help establish dialogues on campus focusing on the heritage of the Sisters of Mercy.
Join the SXU community in congratulating Professor Peck on this great accomplishment!
