SXU's Zepure Samawi selected for the 2018 Leadership for Academic Nursing Program
Congratulations to Saint Xavier University’s (SXU) Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs Zepure Samawi, RN, Ph.D., for being selected to participate in the 2018 Leadership for Academic Nursing Program (LANP). The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) announced that only 49 nursing faculty from across the nation have been selected for the program, which will be held July 29-August 2 in Chaska, Minnesota.
LANP is designed for those who have experience in academic administration and aspire to do more within the nursing academic unit. The year-long fellowship provides participants with a focused assessment experience, a range of content and exercises related to successful executive leadership, and the opportunity to establish a peer network that fosters long-term partnerships and collegial support.
In addition to her work as associate dean for the SXU School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dr. Samawi is also a professor and Fulbright Scholar. Her primary teaching expertise lies in nursing care of children, nursing research and ethics, community nursing, epidemiology and mentoring. Dr. Samawi also orchestrates study abroad opportunities that allow nursing students to compare issues surrounding health and cognitive needs for pediatric patients, while also exploring nursing education from a new worldview.
