SXU students host walkout to protest gun violence on March 14
Due to recent events and news coverage, students from around the country will lead nationwide walkouts to protest gun violence and bring more awareness to a pressing national issue. Among them will be Saint Xavier University (SXU) students.
The walkout demonstration is scheduled for Wednesday, March 14 at 10 a.m. Students will meet at 9:40 a.m. at Mary's Circle, near the Robert and Mary Rita Murphy Stump Library, located on the University's Chicago campus, 3700 West 103 Street. Prior the walkout, SXU students will say a short prayer for those afflicted to gun violence every year. Following the prayer, students will walk from Mary's Circle to Mother McAuley, where they will meet up with students, faculty and staff from both Mother McAuley High School and Brother Rice High School.
Participants will walk along the perimeter of the SXU campus and end at Mary's Circle. The walkout members from Mother McAuley High School and Brother Rice High School will return to their respective campuses following the Mary's Circle endpoint.
Interested participants are welcome to join or leave the walkout demonstration at any time. The actual walkout will be a total of 17 minutes.
