News Alert: SXU student Julian Davis featured in the Beverly Patch
Saint Xavier University's (SXU) biology student Julian Davis was recently featured in the Beverly Patch discussing his motivation for running the 2018 Boston Marathon. A competitor for SXU's cross country team and student worker in the Shannon Center, Davis shares that his father's diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2015 changed the way he views and participates in running.
In the article, sophomore Davis shares that he is inspired by his father to raise awareness and support for the ALS Foundation. "He's the one who got me to start working out and competing in sports," he says, "I'm doing it in his honor and to show him that I care. To live vicariously through him and to be the best person I can be."
The Saint Xavier community and surrounding neighborhoods have rallied around Davis and his cause to show support for ALS. "Most of the donations have come from the people at the Shannon Center and those from the communities. Evergreen Park and Beverly have both been really supportive."
