SXU Student Organizations Plan Toy Drive for Oak Lawn Hospital
Saint Xavier University (SXU) is proud to continuously honor the legacy set down by the Sisters of Mercy, taking up their mission to ignite compassion and respect for others and inspire service for the common good. In that spirit of charity and community outreach, two University organizations have answered the call this holiday season. Psi Chi and Operation Humanity have teamed up to gather toy donations for Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in scholarship, particularly in the field of psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. Operation Humanity is a social organization whose purpose is to embody the timeless truth of togetherness, which is essential for responding to the world's most chronic and acute challenges. Combining these two forces of academia and social unity, both organizations ask all to consider helping a child who may have to spend the holidays in a hospital bed. Every donation can make a difference and help a child's day become a little brighter.
Items in high demand include infant toys, Barbies, DVDs and video games. Donation boxes are located at the front visitors' desk in the Warde Academic Center, in the psychology hall and in front of the Student Affairs office. Donations will be accepted until Monday, December 3 and all gifts are asked to be new and unwrapped.
