SXU's Meg Carroll Presents at Conferences Throughout Fall Semester

Saint Xavier University (SXU) is proud of the ongoing work performed by its dedicated faculty and staff to not only provide the best education experience possible for theirs students but also to educate the community abroad.

During the 2018 fall semester, Professor Meg Carroll, Ed.D., presented at five conferences, including: the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conferences with Jackie Murawska and her father -- Al Lewis -- where she presented on the reading demands in math instruction and strategies for helping students meet those demands; at the Learning Disabilities Association of Illinois Conferences where she presented on English learners and learning disabilities; at the Illinois Association of School Social Workers Conference where she presented on supporting students with complex trauma and limited/interrupted formal schooling; at the Conference for Best Practices in Non-Public Education where she presented on strategies for serving students with complex trauma; and at the Statewide Conference for Teachers of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students where she presented on the impact of effective openings and closings to lessons.

Carroll is a professor of education teaching courses in special education and instructional methods at SXU. She earned her Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction at Loyola University of Chicago with minors in special education, reading, higher education and philosophy of education. She has published five books and over 35 articles, presented at over 150 conferences and over 1,000 staff development seminars, acts as a consultant to several Chicago public and private schools and is president and newsletter editor for the Learning Disabilities Association of Illinois.
