SXU Residence Life staff member published in journal
For an academic, nothing says success quite like having your original research published in a journal; Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Resident Director of Regina Hall Timothy "TJ" Martin did just that. The written article entitled, "Framing leadership: The social construction of leadership within academic field of communication studies" was published in the third volume of Cogent Social Sciences on May 22.
The article focuses on leadership as a social construct, what that means from a communications perspective and how it impacts courses that are designed to develop leadership skills. His finding include that leadership is definitely perceived as a practical and productive behavior, due to the vast qualities leaders possess. Exploration into this topic is critical for understanding how to influence others on a professional level.
Martin is a new addition to SXU; he began working for the Resident Life Department in January. He and his wife, Christine Radmacher, moved to Illinois from Pullman, Wash., where he previously worked at Washington State University (WSU). Martin has enriched SXU with his communication skills and continues to motivate students and fellow staff.
