Saint Xavier University hosts 14th Annual Health Fair
Free health screenings, assessments and information are available at Saint Xavier University's (SXU) 14th Annual Community Health Fair on Friday, March 24. The Fair, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Shannon Center at the University's Chicago campus, 3700 West 103rd Street.
The Fair is a "one-stop shop" of free health services. It includes free screenings and assessments for the following: blood pressure, blood glucose, bone density, hearing and vision, injuries, stress, body mass index, spinal cord, and more!
The Fair also includes a wide variety of other activities, such as:
- Rainbow Therapy Dogs;
- Free chair massages;
- Free refreshments;
- 15-minute exercise classes every 30 minutes starting at 9 a.m.;
- A blood drive hosted by Heartland Blood Centers. If you are interested in donating blood, please pre-register by calling the Shannon Center at 773-298-3592
- Demonstrations about child and adult CPR, first aid, exercise demonstrations, and free screenings;
- A raffle, a scavenger hunt, a children's activity corner, and face painting.
Neighborhood vendors will be at the Health Fair to share health information with the community, including: Advocate Christ Center for Breast Care; Advocate Christ Hospital Cardiac and Stroke Prevention; Advocate Christ GI Medical Center; Athletico Physical Therapy; Axion Group; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois; Brannigan Chiropractic Center; Chiro One Wellness Center; Cook Country Department of Public Health; Core Fitness and Physical Therapy/Beverly Spinning; Cosco; Country House; Devine Nutrition; Fitzpatrick Dental; Heartland Blood Centers; Home Instead Senior Care; Illinois Secretary of State: Organ and Tissue Donor Registration; Life Alarm; Lunettes Eye care, MetroSouth Medical Center; Overeaters Anonymous; Pandit Foot and Ankle Clinic; Pillars; Running for Kicks; Rush Alzheimer’s Disease center; Sam’s Club; Vitamin Shop; Walgreens; and Weight Watchers.
SXU representatives also expected at the Fair, include: Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; the Ludden Speech and Language Clinic; the Health Center; the School of Nursing; SXU Nutrition classes; SXU Biology Classes; SXU Student Veteran Alliance, SXU Psychology Club, and the Shannon Center trainers.
