SXU hosts six-session Courage to Quit® program starting September 21
Do you have the Courage to Quit® smoking? Quitting smoking takes a lot of courage. Let our trained facilitators from the Saint Xavier University (SXU) Health Center guide you through the Respiratory Health Association's (RHA) Courage to Quit® program. Anyone over the age of 18 can participate, which includes SXU students, staff, faculty members and members of the community.
Courage to Quit® is a six-session program that is held weekly (with one skip week allowed) in order to create a supportive group environment. Each participant will receive a program manual. There is no need to quit before the program starts; the 'quit date' is during week three.
Not sure if this program is for you? Come to the first session and if you don't feel like it will be effective for you, we'll recommend other resources. All sessions will be held at SXU's Health Center break room (mobile unit; parking lot 4).
The program session dates are as follows:
- Session 1: September 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- Session 2: September 28 from 6 to 7 p.m.
- Session 3: October 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. (Quit Week)
- Session 4: October 12 from 6 to 7 p.m.
- October 19: No session (Skip Week)
- Session 5: October 26 from 6 to 7 p.m.
- Session 6: November 2 from 6 to 7 p.m.
The cost is $20 (cash only) and will be collected after the introduction for those who wish to continue the program. Each participant who completes the program will receive their $20 back!
