Shannon Center Member Spotlight of the Month – June 2016
Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Shannon Center has been open to the community for over 17 years! As a way to show appreciation of the community's support, the Shannon Center will highlight one loyal member each month. Members will be chosen by a full-time staff manager or student manager and will be featured on the Shannon Center's website.
The Member Spotlight for the month of June is Tom Gilmartin. As a proud alumnus and exercise enthusiast, he has been a member of the Shannon Center since he was a freshman at SXU. Gilmartin enjoys the convenience of the Shannon Center and the close proximity to his home. A typical workout for him includes utilizing the exercise courses, such as Bootcamp, People on Weights and Kickboxing Cardio. Gilmartin has always had a passion for staying fit and leading a healthy lifestyle. Being there for his son, he says, is what helps to keep him motivated to continue with his fitness goals everyday!
"Don't ever think you can't do anything; you can always run that extra mile, you can always do those extra push-ups, you can always do that extra rep," said Gilmartin. "It's better to do at least 30 minutes of exercises than none at all. Just when you think you should stop is when you should keep going."
Congratulations, Tom! Check back to see the Shannon Center Member Spotlight for the month of July!
