SXU's Meg Carroll conducted workshops at local area schools
Saint Xavier University's (SXU) School of Education (SOE) Professor Meg Carroll, Ed.D., spoke to hundreds of full-time faculty and staff from the City Colleges of Chicago about college students with disabilities at the plenary session kicking off Faculty Development Week 2016 for the city college system. Dr. Carroll generated an acronym LITEAPOS (as in "light a positive flame for students") to identify the disabilities that college adults might have and another acronym TASC (as in "help students learn and complete their tasks") to identify the kinds of accommodations adult students with disabilities might need. Later in the morning, she presented a lengthier session of "Instructional Strategies and Access for Students with Learning and Mental Health Disabilities" at a breakout time.
