SXU's Angela Pirlott presents research on the role of religion in explaining LGB prejudice and discrimination
Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Department of Psychology Assistant Professor Angela Pirlott, Ph.D., presented her work explaining prejudice and discrimination against LGB individuals at the Society for Experimental Social Psychology in Santa Monica, CA, on Saturday, October 1.
Her presentation, entitled "Perceived Threats to Religious Ingroup Predict Moral Disgust toward, Aggression against, and Expulsion of LGB Individuals on the Individual- and Country-Levels," demonstrated how perceptions that LGB individuals undermine the religious ingroup predict moral disgust prejudices toward LGB individuals, aggressive intentions to suppress their religious rights, and intentions to socially ostracize them, on both the individual and cross-cultural levels.
