About the Program

The MAT program spans six semesters, including two intensive summer sessions. Candidates benefit from accelerated coursework, teaching experiences, and licensure testing, all while receiving personalized guidance from a site-based mentor/coach and a University coordinator during two years of provisional teaching.

The MAT program combines rigorous academics with real-world teaching experiences. Candidates gain hands-on practice in classroom settings while applying theory through fieldwork. With one-on-one mentoring and ongoing support, you'll refine your teaching strategies and learn to adapt to diverse learning needs effectively.

Graduates will demonstrate mastery of instructional strategies, classroom management, and curriculum design for middle-level learners. You'll gain practical experience, meet licensure requirements, and leave the program fully prepared to inspire and support students in grades 5-8.
