Biography
Kathleen McInerney holds a Ph.D. in language, literacy and culture from the University of Iowa and an M.A. in English from SUNY Fredonia. She has extensive experience with and research focused on ESL, EFL and dual language teaching, with particular attention to the social contexts affecting emergent bilingual learners, their families and communities. She has taught pre-kindergarten graduate students and also teaches a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate course in the summers in Cuenca, Ecuador. She assists with a trilingual children's school in Cuenca and provides professional development to teachers of English in the U.S. and abroad.

Chair Specialized Clinical Interests
McInerney's current interests include issues of power, privilege, and education policy in communities and their schools, using narrative and auto-ethnography as equitable modes of inquiry and expression.
She also examines the infusion of Mercy in community-based learning at home and abroad.
