Outside and Other Scholarships
Saint Xavier University does its best to make your university experience affordable. If you are looking for additional support to what SXU can provide, many businesses and community organizations offer scholarship opportunities to deserving students like you.
Outside scholarships can decrease the amount of borrowing necessary to complete your degree. These scholarships are typically awarded on an annual basis and may or may not be renewable. Please keep in mind that individual scholarships have unique sets of criteria and varying deadlines. To apply, follow the directions provided by the outside organization.*
Key places to look when pursuing scholarships includes:

- Banks and/or credit unions
- Government agencies

What to Do If You Receive an Outside Scholarship
When you are awarded a scholarship from an organization outside of the University, present a copy of the scholarship notification letter and, if applicable, the scholarship check made out to the student to the Office of Financial Aid. Outside scholarships are considered a part of you financial aid award. Typically, the addition of outside awards will not affect other scholarships and/or grants. In some cases, awards may be reduced if total aid exceeds Cost of Attendance. If necessary, federal work study and then loans will be reduced to allow for additional gift awards.
