Common Words
Student Aid Index (SAI)
The Student Aid Index (SAI) is an eligibility index number that is used by your college or university's financial aid office to determine how much financial aid you are eligible for. When you fill out the FAFSA, you will provide all the information that is needed to calculate this number.Cost of Attendance (COA)
- An estimate of how much it costs to attend a college. The COA includes the price of tuition and fees, housing and food, books and supplies and other expenses associated with attending that school.

Financial Need
