How to Work in the Center for Learning and Student Support
Each semester, the Center for Learning and Student Support hires friendly, enthusiastic peer tutors and writing consultants who are eager to assist SXU students of varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds in reaching their full academic potential. To be considered for employment in the Center for Learning and Student Support, students must commit to making themselves available for a minimum of three hours per week and 10 hours of ongoing training each semester.
The students we hire typically:
- Demonstrate significant knowledge of their subject areas, confirmed by their outcomes in the courses they wish to tutor. Subject tutors typically have a B+ or higher in the courses they tutor.
- Many times are nominated by a past professor.
- Are current Saint Xavier University (sophomore, junior or senior) students, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Possess advanced communication and reasoning skills.
