New Student Advising and Registration
A Welcome Message From the Assistant Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success
Welcome to Saint Xavier University! We're so excited for you to take this journey with us.
At Saint Xavier University, our staff of student success and support specialists passionately believe in and are dedicated to our students' success -- both inside and outside the classroom. Driven by our Mercy Mission, we are student-centered and compassionate and work to foster a collaborative relationship between students, faculty and staff. We aim to encourage and empower you to build competence and character, to be leaders in your own educational experiences, to think critically, and to explore opportunities that will enhance your life and set you on the right path toward career success.
My passion for student development began over 15 years ago as an academic advisor for both undecided and academically at-risk students. It was then I realized just how many people and resources were critical to student success. Services like academic and career advising, support coaching, tutoring, accessibility resources, and co-curricular experiences, among many others, play a large role in your development. More importantly, they provide you with a personal and meaningful connection to the University and help prepare you with the career-ready skills employers seek.
I encourage all of you to take advantage of the many services and opportunities available to you as an SXU student. I'm confident you will find the relationships you build and the experiences you take part in to be an integral part of your journey. We are all here to see you succeed!
Alison Chandler, M.A., M.S.

Freshman Students
All incoming first year students will register for their first semester of classes during Via New Student Orientation. During your orientation, there will be special sessions for advising and registration where you will learn about classes important to your major and general education. Together with an advisor, you will create a fall schedule and register for your first semester of classes.
Once you have been admitted to SXU, please be sure to register for a Via New Student Orientation session.
At the beginning of the fall semester, you will be assigned to a permanent faculty advisor based on your major. If you are Undecided or Nursing, you will continue to work with the Student Advising Center until you have moved to a faculty advisor in your major.
Transfer Students
If you are a transfer student and have been newly admitted, you will need to complete a Request Advising Appointment Form. The Transfer Student Services Center will then reach out to schedule an advising appointment. If you have any questions or need more information, please call 773-298-3510.
