Group Exercise Schedule

  • All classes (except those marked with a *) are free for students, faculty, staff and current members of the Shannon Center. There is no sign up, just show up. For more information, contact Facility Director Jennifer Quinlan at 773-298-3778 or quinlan@sxu.edu.
  • Monday and Friday night yoga takes place in the Shannon Center Alumni room. Cost is $5 per class for current Shannon Center members, SXU students, faculty and staff.
  • Please be aware of Shannon Center closings due to special events and holidays throughout the school year.  Fitness classes will be canceled if the class start time is at the same time or later than the early closing time. See the Shannon Center monthly calendar at the Front Desk or on the Shannon Center Hours web page.  

Fitness Orientations and Personal Training

Fitness orientations are offered free of charge for all students, faculty, staff and current Shannon Center members by appointment only. Call 773-298-3597 for your free fitness program today. The Shannon Center also offers Personal Training with Certified Personal Trainers. The cost is $30 per session for SXU faculty, staff and students and $45 per session for Shannon Center members. To sign up for Personal Training please call 773-298-3586.

Jana has worked for the Shannon Center for three years as fitness specialist and group fitness instructor and the past year as personal trainer. She graduated from Saint Xavier University in 2010 with a b.a. in clinical/counseling psychology, and went on to earn her certificate in fitness training from Moraine Valley Community College in 2013. Currently, she is a graduate assistant at North Park University while earning her master's of business administration. With this background, she hopes to find a career in development/management within the fitness industry. 

In her spare time, Jana enjoys spending time with friends, reading, scrapbooking and home improvement projects; as well as training for races and has completed four half marathons and one marathon.

John is a biology and pre-med major at Saint Xavier University. In his future, he plans on becoming a physical therapist and starting his own practice. He is also part of the football and track teams at Saint Xavier University. Fitness started to be a focus of his when he began high school and it continues today.  He enjoys helping people meet their fitness goals even if it is just getting their foot in the door. He can improve your strength, flexibility, balance and overall health if you choose him to be your personal trainer.
