We recommend making an appointment so that you will have a minimal wait time. Walk-in appointments are accepted; however, we can't guarantee that there will be an available appointment or that you won't have to wait before seeing a provider.
Students, SXU faculty and staff, and members of the community are welcome at the SXU Health Center.
No. Although we are in-network with many insurance carriers, detailed on our Insurances Accepted web page, we do also offer low self-pay rates for those who are out-of-network or without insurance.
We accept payments of cash, personal check, Cougar Cards, credit cards, medical spending accounts and debit cards. If we are not using insurance for your visit we require payment at the time of service.
There are several ways patients can request their records from the SXU Health Center:
- The patient can present to Health Center to pick up the records in person. We require a photo I.D. in order to pick up health records. We recommend that you call ahead of time so the records will be available when you arrive to pick them up.
- If the records are going to be released to a third party, a Release of Information form needs to be completed and submitted to the Health Center. The form can be submitted to the Health Center via email, fax or in person. Please allow at least 24 hours for the task to be completed. There is no charge for this service.
The Health Center is staffed by Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs). Nurse practitioners are able to assess, diagnose, and treat many illness and injuries. FNPs are trained to see patients of all ages with a holistic approach.
The SXU Health Center has a collaborative relationship with a local Family Practice Physician, Dr. Rosemary McGrath. Dr. McGrath is available via phone if questions arise, but she does not see patients on-site.
