Scholarship Details

The Edwin J. and Mildred B. Keene Mathematics Scholarship was established by Dr. Carole A. Keene, '61, in honor of her parents. This scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman whose declared major is mathematics or mathematics education and will granted based upon a review by a committee of Mathematics Department faculty members of:

  1. a letter of application stating student's interests in and goals for math and recommendations by two high school teachers.
  2. a minimum ACT score of 27 or comparable SAT score, 4 years of high school math with a GPA in math classes consistent with their ACT score (GPA 3.5 in a 4.0 system) and an overall high school GPA of 3.0 in a 4.0 system.
  3. minimum GPA of 3.0 per semester in all math classes and minimum GPA 3.0 per semester in all other University classes.
  4. maintaining and completing a full-time academic load, minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

The recipient will be eligible to renew the scholarship during their college career by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 in a 4.0 system both in math and other University classes. If recipient changes their major from math, they will forfeit the scholarship.
