How to Apply for Aid

Application

To be reviewed for financial aid eligibility, Saint Xavier University requires students to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

While February 1 is SXU's priority filing deadline, many sources of funds are only awarded until funds are depleted. Therefore, it is recommended that you file your FAFSA as soon as possible after the application becomes available in December the year before you plan to enroll at SXU, and each subsequent year you plan to attend, in order to receive all funds for which you qualify.

Please keep in mind the FAFSA form uses tax information from the year prior to the award year. The FAFSA should be completed with the tax year requested within the application, meaning there is no need to correct the FAFSA with latest tax year data. Using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool within the FAFSA ensures the correct tax year data is reported.

Saint Xavier University's school code is 001768. Be sure to include SXU on your FAFSA so that your eligibility for aid at SXU can be reviewed.

Helpful Resources

Awarding

Once you are an admitted student to Saint Xavier University and your valid FAFSA results have been received, an offer detailing your estimated financial aid will be sent to you.

Your financial aid offer is an estimation based on current FAFSA results and federal/state regulations, as well as an assumed housing and enrollment plan. If your housing plans or anticipated enrollment change, notify%20the%20Office%20of%20Financial%20Aid so that your aid can be revised.

Disbursement of financial aid awards, for all eligible students, occurs at the start of each term.

If you have questions about your awards or would like information about additional lending that may be available, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

Study Abroad

Students who are planning to study abroad apply for aid in the same manner as those who are studying on campus or online. Several study abroad programs are approved for credit at SXU, allowing for many forms of financial aid to be used. If you have already completed your FAFSA for the year in which you plan to study abroad, it will be used to determine your eligibility for study abroad financial aid.
