Biography
Kathleen Moran received her bachelor's in nursing from the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, Minnesota, and her master's in nursing from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Moran has been a registered nurse for 45 years and a hospice nurse for 25. She has certification as a hospice and palliative care nurse.
In 2014, Moran joined the faculty at Saint Xavier University School of Nursing and Health Sciences, where she has enjoyed her work with students as much as her nursing career itself. She notes it is a privilege to guide the aspiring professionals at SXU in this most valuable role.
The majority of Moran's career has been spent in a clinical setting, caring for patients and families at the end of life. This experience has strongly influenced her perspective in nursing education, including the importance of empathy, cultural competence, communication, symptom control, ethical considerations and safe patient care.
Moran is a wife, mother of six and grandmother of seven. She enjoys family life, pottery, knitting and painting.
