Biography

Ileana Ramos is a graduate of SXU's MSN program for nurse educators, and what began as time in an adjunct faculty role and then as full-time faculty has led to a role as director of the undergraduate Nursing program. The journey to get there was not a straight line. After graduating from Arizona State University, Ramos began teaching in the Chicagoland area, taking over math and science classrooms to teach test prep to inner-city students preparing for their school entrance exams. She was then recruited to teach engineering and robotics in Los Angeles County, where she began her second job as an EMT. This led Ramos to pursue an accelerated nursing program in New York, after which she moved back home to Chicago and worked at Little Company of Mary Medical Center (now OSF), where she progressed from a new graduate nurse to a nurse preceptor, a charge nurse, and a clinical educator. Ramos then began her time at SXU after completing the master's program, returning to the classroom and combining her love of teaching and nursing to share with her peers and students.
