Biography
Anthony Arnone, Ph.D., is a professor in SXU's Language and Literature Department. Arnone's teaching and research focus on eighteenth-century British studies, media theory, and the history of literary study and rhetoric. He is currently working on two book projects. One, titled "Outside the Latin University: Vernacular Rhetoric and College English in Eighteenth-Century Britain," looks at the vernacular educational innovations of early modern and eighteenth-century women and dissenters excluded from British universities as a resource for thinking about the political role of literary study today. The other is a historical novel titled "Pigs' Meat." Set from 1790-1840, the novel follows a Home Office spy named John Williamson, who infiltrates Thomas Spence's infamous revolutionary group, the Spenceans. He has forthcoming book chapters and articles with the University of Virginia Press, The Adam Smith Review, and Peitho.
