Biography

Faisal M. Rahman, Ph.D., is professor and founding dean of the Graham School of Management (GSM) at Saint Xavier University. In 1983, Rahman started the business school along with the MBA program. The GSM building was established with the support and assistance of major corporations and the Chicago community. Among his pioneering initiatives included overseas programs in France and Italy, required business ethics course at the undergraduate and graduate levels, strong linkages with businesses, and preparing first-generation students for the place of work.

Rahman's teaching and research interests are focused on strategic management and global environment of business. He has published textbooks, articles in both academic and trade journals, and is a featured speaker at both national and international meetings. He has won both national and international awards for excellence in teaching and contributions to international education. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate by a consortium of French universities.

Rahman has had a concurrent career in the business world. He is the co-founder/CEO of APAC group of healthcare companies, which own and operate physician practices and outpatient ambulatory surgery centers in both Illinois and Indiana. He has held senior management positions in NYSE-listed companies and has served on the Board of Directors in several chambers of commerce, the economic development commission, and non-profit organizations.
