International Admission and Application Requirements
- May 1 deadline for fall semester applicants
- October 1 deadline for spring semester applicants
First-time undergraduate students must submit the following:
- Online application for undergraduate admission.
- Transcript evaluation from either Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or World Education Services (WES). The evaluation should be a course-by-course evaluation and show the student has achieved the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.
- Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. For consideration, applicants must score a minimum of 80 on the Internet based TOEFL exam, 550 on the paper based exam or 213 on the computer based exam. (Note: The TOEFL ITP exam is not accepted.) The minimum score required for the IELTS is 6.5.
- Letter of recommendation attesting to the student's ability to succeed in college and proficiency in English.
- A notarized affidavit of support form (PDF) and a notarized bank statement or letter showing the student has financial sponsorship in the amount of $37,940 (or $50,440 if living on campus). The bank statement must be for a sponsor's personal checking or savings account (investment accounts and business accounts are not accepted) and must be written in English by the sponsor's bank or translated into English.
- A photocopy or facsimile of the identification page and expiration page of the student's passport.
Application Completion Deadlines for International Students: Applications and all materials must be received by the dates below.

Undergraduate students transferring from international institutions must submit the following:
- Online application for undergraduate admission.
- Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. - Official transcripts from all U.S. institutions the student has attended. (An English language proficiency exam may be required depending on the courses completed thus far at a U.S. institution).
- Official transcript evaluation of any undergraduate coursework from colleges/universities attended outside the U.S. Students should request a course-by-course evaluation from either Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or World Education Services (WES).
- A notarized affidavit of support form (PDF) and notarized bank letter showing the student has financial sponsorship in the amount of $37,940 (or $50,440 if living on campus). The bank statement must be for a sponsor's personal checking or savings account (investment accounts and business accounts are not accepted) and must be written in English by the sponsor's bank or translated into English.
- A photocopy or facsimile of the identification page and expiration page of the student's passport, the student's current F-1 visa, the I-20 form from the student's current institution, and the I-94 form documenting the student's original entry into the country.
- May 1 for fall semester (August)
- October 1 for spring semester (January)

The information on this page is for non-U.S. citizens possessing the U.S. equivalency of a bachelor's degree, or a U.S. bachelor's degree, seeking to apply for admission as an international student into graduate school at Saint Xavier University.
The following programs are the only graduate programs we offer that are available to international students:
Business (program completion results in MBA degree)
- Master of Business Administration: Fraud Examination and Management
- Master of Business Administration: Healthcare Management
- Master of Business Administration: Management
Education (program completion results in Illinois PEL {Professional Educator License} and M.A. degree)
- Master of Arts: Secondary Education (Traditional) (grade range = 9-12)
- Master of Arts: Special Education (not yet licensed) (grade range = K-age 22)
The checklist items described further below represent the requirements for international students applying to any of the graduate programs listed above.
If you would like to apply, please first complete the Graduate Student Application, as described in checklist item # 1. After receiving your application, please do not submit any checklist items until the Office of Graduate Admission contacts you to confirm receipt of your application and provide you with instructions for submitting the supporting checklist items described below to complete your application for review.
- Application: Create a Graduate Student account and submit the online Graduate Student Application. There is no application fee. Please answer all questions on the application accurately and completely, particularly those about your citizenship status and academic history.
- U.S. Transcripts: If you attended any U.S. colleges/universities, we will need official transcripts from them. Please do not submit transcripts from any non-U.S. colleges/universities.
- Non-U.S. Transcripts Evaluation: We do not desire your transcripts from non-U.S. colleges/universities. Instead, what we require is an official, course-by-course evaluation of any/all non-U.S. colleges/universities attended. We can only accept course-by-course evaluations from ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators), WES (World Education Services), or EP (Educational Perspectives).
- English Proficiency Requirement: We will need one of the following (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, or 4e), as described below.
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) -- must score minimum of 80 on internet-based version, or 550 on paper-based version, or 213 on computer-based version. (Note: The TOEFL ITP exam is not accepted.)
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System) -- must score minimum of 6.5 overall band score.
- ELS (English Language Services) -- satisfactory completion of ELS level 112.
- Official transcripts from a U.S. college/university indicating satisfactory completion of a full program or degree.
- Origination from a country where English is the official, primary language will be considered for meeting the English proficiency requirement.
- Financial Requirement: We will need 5a and 5b, or only 5c, as described below.
- Notarized Saint Xavier University Affidavit of Support Form indicating financial sponsorship of a minimum of $35,000 in U.S. dollars. The Saint Xavier University Affidavit of Support Form is the only affidavit form we can accept. The form must be filled out in English and show financial amounts in U.S. dollars. The sponsor on the affidavit form must match the sponsor on the bank letter/statement (checklist item 5b). It is acceptable to sponsor oneself.
- Bank Letter or Bank Statement indicating finances indicating the amount in U.S. dollars listed on the affidavit of support (checklist item 5b). The bank letter or bank statement must be written in, or translated to, English by a representative from the bank; and it must show the financial amount in U.S. dollars. In addition, the name of the individual on the bank account must match the sponsor listed on the affidavit form (checklist item 5a). The account(s) must be personal checking or savings accounts; investment accounts and business accounts are not accepted.
- Scholarship Letter: While Saint Xavier University does not offer international student scholarships, we do honor and will consider any scholarships you may have been awarded. If this is the case, submit documentation of the scholarship you have been awarded and this will be considered to meet our Financial Requirement.
- Passport: We will need a copy of both the identification page and expiration page of the applicant's passport.
In addition to the checklist requirements above, international graduate student applicants must meet any additional Graduate Admission Requirements the specific graduate program to which they are applying may require.
After receiving your application and all required checklist items, your completed application will be reviewed for admission. If you are admitted, we will contact you to discuss the processing of any/all forms required for your enrollment (F-1 Visa, I-20, I-94, etc.).
