The Sports and Fitness Administration Program will teach you not only the ability to manage, market and run a fitness-related business, but also teach you the science behind how the body works.

Majoring in Sports and Fitness Administration will prepare you for various careers emphasizing fitness and business. This major provides students with teaching from SXU's Graham School of Management and the Health Sciences divisions to enhance their learning in business and fitness. Students who obtain this degree from SXU will have financial management, sales, marketing, sports and fitness marketing and fitness sales opportunities. Many students have gone on to obtain an MBA and get jobs in their field of choice.

About the Program

The ever-growing health and wellness industry demands qualified professionals to lead and administer programs to ensure quality of life. The Sports and Fitness Administration Program will teach you how to manage, market and run a fitness-related business and the science behind the body's workings. This interdisciplinary major will help you blend science and business within health and wellness.

Students majoring in Sports and Fitness Administration will have access to the Human Performance Lab located in Saint Xavier's Center for Health and Wellness. This lab is dedicated to bringing our students the most up-to-date exercise and sport science technology, including:

  • Bluetooth Vo2 Analyzer.
  • Portable Force Plates.
  • Velocity-Based Technology.
  • In-Body System.
  • 3D Motion Capture.
  • Various VALD Performance Technologies, including Dynamometer, Jump Mat, and Laser System.
  • Dashr Laser System, and more.

  • Students will be taught by expert faculty in the world of business by the Graham School of Management
  • Students will take classes in exercise science that help provide the student with the theory of fitness
  • Students will utilize the Human Performance Lab as a resource to understand the practice of fitness
  • Students will have a chance to work at the Center for Health and Wellness within the business side as a student worker for real-life experience 
  • Students will take the senior seminar course that encompasses their 4-years of work as an undergraduate

In this program, students will obtain skills required to:
  • Apply marketing principals.
  • Understand and apply knowledge in sports and fitness in real-world settings.
  • Apply financial and economic principals to organizations within athletics.

  • Many courses are taught by the Graham School of Management, which is AACSB- (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited, a designation held by only 5% of collegiate schools of business worldwide.
