During the fall semesters, the brass faculty at Saint Xavier University host an exciting day of brass music, master classes, and educational clinics (and we always include a polka or two!).
Professor Dan Sartori (low brass), Dr. Joshua Thompson (trumpet) and Professor Paulette Velazquez (horn) work with visiting high school students from across the region to offer them advanced study on their instruments. Specific master classes include a wide range of topics, including tone, articulation, style, brass history, instrument selection, and performance anxiety.
In addition to the music and fun, all participants get to enjoy an authentic bratwurst dinner!
The educational portion of the event is open to all high school students who play any of the following instruments:
- Trombone/Bass Trombone
There is a brief concert presented at the end of the event, which is free and open to the public.
