Important Safety Reminders

At Saint Xavier University, we care about your safety and well-being. Replacing valuable property is expensive and inconvenient, but taking precautions will help keep you and your belongings safe. Included here are some safety reminders so that you can have the best experience while on and off campus this holiday season.

  • Safeguard your personal property at all times.
  • Property left unattended even for a short period is prone to theft.
  • Crimes of opportunity are preventable.
  • Do not rely on others to watch your property if you need to leave the area even for a short period of time.
  • High activity areas such as the Diner, Library and Shannon Center are easy targets for unattended property.
  • Take your property with you.
  • At the Shannon Center, use the lockers with your personal lock.
  • Walk with an awareness of your surroundings.  You become a target when you are walking and using a cell phone. Wait until you reach a secure location to use your phone.
  • While driving, drive defensively at all times. If you are putting packages in your car, it is recommended that you move your car to a different location.
  • Do not drive with valuables including a purse or gym bag in plain view especially the front seat of your car.
  • Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area. Do not leave property in your car in plain view and lock your car at all times.
  • When in doubt always error on the side of caution.
