Coverage Options

Saint Xavier University offers a University Student Health Insurance Plan to provide comprehensive, affordable insurance coverage to its students; The SXU plan is fully compliant with the requirements for student health plans under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Students may waive their enrollment in the plan by providing proof of active insurance coverage through an alternate plan that meets the University's requirements for comparable coverage.

The plan year runs from August 11, 2017 to August 10, 2018. Annual benefits are applied to services received during this period of time.

Student Health Coverage

The University Student Health Insurance Plan coverage features a In-Network $250 annual deductible, and a Coinsurance of 80% for Preferred Allowance. Out-of-Network deductible is $600, and a Coinsurance of 60% of Preferred Allowance.

RX Benefit: Coverage for prescription drugs is unlimited per policy year. Medicines are provided in three tiers, each with a different co-pay:

The plan covers essential health benefits, as required of student health plans by ACA.

The student plan coverage also is available to dependent spouses and children.

Premiums

The annual premium for the SXU Health Plan is billed one time at the beginning of the School year, for a period of coverage beginning on August 11, 2017 and ending on August 10, 2018.

Health Insurance Billing Cycles

The 2017-2018 University Student Health Insurance Plan year runs from August 11, 2017 through August 10, 2018. As noted above, students and their dependents are charged an annual premium. The chart below indicates those semesters that students' tuition bills are charged an insurance premium.
