Welcome to the SXU commencement website and congratulations on your upcoming graduation. This site has been designed to answer the most frequently asked questions about our commencement ceremonies and related activities, so we hope our graduates and their guests take a few moments to browse through these pages. We look forward to seeing you at the next ceremony.

Below are important dates and times related to this event. All events are on the Chicago campus.

Academic Regalia (Cap and Gown) Distribution Day

Thursday, April 11, 2013
10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
Butler Reception Room
Warde Academic Center
Please bring student ID or driver's license.

Master of arts in teaching leadership students in the School of Education will receive regalia and tickets at their instructional sites.

Commencement Liturgy

Friday, May 10, 2013, 4:30 p.m. 
McDonough Chapel

  • Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
  • Student lineup at 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are not required for the liturgy. Graduating students are asked to wear their academic regalia.

Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony

Saturday, May 11, 2013, 10:00 a.m.
Shannon Center Main Arena

  • Doors open at 9:00 a.m.
  • Student lineup at 9:30 a.m. (Shannon Center West Gym)

Graduate Commencement Ceremony

Saturday, May 11, 2013, 3:00 p.m.
Shannon Center Main Arena

  • Doors open at 2:00 p.m.
  • Student lineup at 2:30 p.m. (Shannon Center West Gym)

A reception will follow immediately after each ceremony in the diner of the Warde Academic Center.

Petitioners who do not meet academic and/or financial graduation requirements by the end of the spring 2013 semester are not entitled to process in the commencement ceremony. The Office of Records and Advising (773-298-3501) verifies each petitioner's academic eligibility to graduate. The Office of the Bursar (773-298-3046) verifies each petitioner's financial eligibility to graduate.
