SXU Merwick Academy summer sessions
Registration begins May 27
Chicago (April 30, 2008) – Registration for elementary and high school summer tutoring classes at Saint Xavier University’s Merwick Academy begins Tuesday, May 27. Two three-week summer sessions are available, each offering one-hour classes Monday through Thursday for elementary and high school students. Sessions will run June 16 through July 3 and July 7 through July 24.
Registration will be at the United Methodist Church of Mount Greenwood, 11000 S. St. Louis Ave., Chicago, and will be will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Registration dates are May 27 through June 13 for Session I and May 27 through July 3 for session 2.
Elementary classes will focus on reading, math, language arts and writing, study skills and introductory Spanish and are offered at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. High school classes will focus on social studies (history and geography), literature, Spanish, earth science, biology, chemistry, geometry and algebra (I and II) and are offered at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Classes are $250 per subject with a $100 nonrefundable deposit required at time of registration. Classes will be held at the United Methodist Church of Mount Greenwood, 11000 S. St. Louis Ave., Chicago.
The Merwick Academy provides tutoring for elementary and secondary students of public, parochial and private schools in the Chicago area. Founded 52 years ago, the program allows students of different cultures, ethnic backgrounds, abilities and sexes to interact in the learning process. The Merwick Academy works with parents, teachers, counselors and administrators to meet the needs of the individual student.
