“Healing the Wounded Warrior: the Three Battlefields”
Theology South lecture series continues Nov. 1
Chicago (Oct. 23, 2007) – Rev. Robert Barry, OP, Ph.D., will explore spiritual healing of the wounded in the upcoming Theology South lecture series at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in Saint Xavier University’s Butler Reception Room, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago.
In a lecture titled “Healing the Wounded Warrior: the Three Battlefields,” Barry will discuss his care for wounded soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors being treated at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. He will address the spiritual, physical and emotional healing of these “wounded warriors.”
Barry, who has served in the military for 20 years, is currently a lieutenant colonel in the Illinois Air National Guard. He has served three tours of duty at Landstuhl and will return in the summer of 2008. In Jan. 2007, Barry received the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement and service. A resident of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, he currently serves as a faculty member and campus minister at Saint Xavier University. He has been at Saint Xavier since 2003.
