WXAV holds special year end Chicago Fire Show

Interviews to include Chicago Fire goalie Matt Pickens and striker John Thorrington

Chicago (Oct. 23, 2007) – Saint Xavier University’s student radio station WXAV 88.3 FM will hold a special one-hour show of Chicago Fire Soccer Weekly Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m., celebrating a full season of covering the Chicago Fire soccer club.

The show will feature interviews with Chicago Fire goalie Matt Pickens and striker John Thorrington, a chat with other soccer media, and excerpts from the Fire's awards ceremony banquet.

The show will preview the playoff match between Chicago and DC United. The Fire qualified for the playoffs by beating David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on Sunday.
WXAV and the Chicago Fire began their weekly radio partnership in May.

“This partnership with the Chicago Fire has been an incredible opportunity for our students to maintain a working relationship with a world class professional sports club,” said WXAV program director Angelo Bonadonna.
