New counseling programs at Saint Xavier’s Orland Park Campus
Meeting the needs of the region with cutting-edge programs
Chicago (June 5, 2007) -- Beginning fall 2007, Saint Xavier University’s School of Education will offer two graduate counseling programs at Saint Xavier’s Orland Park campus.
With an emphasis on cooperative groups, individual learning and project-based learning, the two new graduate counseling cohort programs are available in school counseling and community counseling. The school counseling program prepares counselors to work with diverse student populations in a variety of school settings. Completion of this program leads to the Illinois Type 73, school counseling certification.
The community counseling program prepares professional counselors to work with individuals and groups who may be experiencing psychological difficulties, seeking career guidance or coping with an array of life challenges and/or transitions. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor examination.
