Saint Xavier offers new accelerated professional studies program
Students can complete bachelor's degree in 15 to 18 months
Chicago (Dec. 7, 2006) – Saint Xavier University will begin offering a new bachelor of arts degree program in professional studies with a concentration in organizational behavior to prepare students who have already earned associate’s degrees or the equivalent credit hours to be agents of change and leaders in the workplace.
Combining coursework, applied research and professional experience, the program equips students with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to succeed. The program will be offered beginning fall 2007 at Saint Xavier’s Orland Park campus at 18230 Orland Parkway.
“This program is for adult learners who want to continue their education and complete their degree so they can move their careers forward,” said Leslie Petty, dean of the School for Continuing and Professional Studies.
Classes will meet twice a week for eight weeks, allowing students who already have an associate’s degree to earn a bachelor’s degree in 15 to 18 months. The program offers technology-enhanced instruction, career counseling workshops and seminars specific to a student’s area of study; e-portfolio capabilities to showcase a student’s learning and career history; and faculty and staff who specialize in adult learning and give students personalized attention.
Students can earn additional credit through the College Level Examination Program, portfolio development and the American Council on Education for college credit equivalency for military and professional training programs.
Saint Xavier University designed the School for Continuing and Professional Studies for adult students and their busy lifestyles. It provides a variety of opportunities for adults who are establishing new careers, completing a degree or enriching their personal or professional development.
