String Quartet and Flute Ensemble to perform
SXU professor Martha Morris directs
Chicago (Sept. 25, 2006) – Enjoy an evening of classical music with Saint Xavier University’s String Quartet and Flute Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, in McGuire Hall, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago.
Under the direction of Professor Martha Morris, the String Quartet will perform Haydn’s Emperor’s String Quartet, Op. 76 No. 3 in C major (2nd movement); Tchaikovsky’s Andante Cantabile in D major; Mozart’s Quartet in D major K. 285 with Morris as flute soloist; and Telemann’s Canary Cantata with music professor and mezzo-soprano Jan Bickel as soloist, and harpsichordist Daniel Surma, an adjunct professor of piano at Saint Xavier.
The Flute Choir will perform A Gaelic Offering by Catherine McMichael; Debussy’s Clair de Lune; Prelude and Rondo by Anne McGinty; and Illusions by James Andrews.
