Saint Xavier's Concert Band performs "1812 Overture"
Performance to be held at Beverly Arts Center
Chicago (March 24, 2006) – The Saint Xavier Concert Band will perform the Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago.
Under the direction of Erik Janners, the concert will feature the masterpiece by the great Russian composer, transcribed for band by Mark Hindsley. The band will also perform an arrangement made by Janners titled “Three Dances from ‘The Bartered Bride,’” by Bedrich Smetana. Band music from Dana Wilson, Barry Kopetz and Paul Creston will also be performed.
Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and visiting students. Admission is free for all Saint Xavier students, faculty and staff with a valid university ID. For additional information, contact the Saint Xavier University Music Department at (773) 298-3421.
