Open house welcomes prospective students, families

Chicago (Sept. 29, 2005) – Prospective students and their families are invited to attend Saint Xavier University’s Open House on Sunday, Oct. 16, from noon to 3:00 p.m., at the Chicago campus at 3700 W. 103rd St.

The Open House is for all freshmen and their parents, transfer, adult and graduate students who are interested in pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at Saint Xavier University.

“The Fall Open House is an excellent opportunity for students and families to learn about all the opportunities Saint Xavier University has to offer, meet current students and faculty, and tour the beautiful Chicago campus,” said Beth Gierach, associate vice president for Enrollment Services at Saint Xavier University.

Prospective students and their families will have an opportunity to speak with faculty from all academic programs, staff from Admission, Financial Aid and Student Life, as well as representatives from student organizations.

Those who attend will be able to review academic programs in the School of Arts and Sciences, Graham School of Management, School of Education, School of Nursing and School for Continuing and Professional Studies; meet faculty, staff and students, who will share their Saint Xavier experiences; discuss financing options with financial aid staff; and learn about campus life from representatives of the Student Activities Board, residential life, Cougar athletics, Campus Ministry, and Student Media.

Financial aid presentations will be held at 12:30 and 1:15 p.m. Graduate student sessions will also be offered; visit our Web site at www.sxu.edu/admission/openhouse.asp for times and locations of these sessions.

Campus tours will be provided by Student Ambassadors. Visit the Shannon Convocation and Athletic Center, a state-of-the-art facility and the hub of Open House events; Morris Hall, Saint Xavier’s new apartment-style residence hall with wireless café, Cougar Bytes; McDonough Chapel, with historic Celtic stained glass windows; and the Saint Xavier Quad, adjacent to McCarthy and Morris residence halls, the Warde Academic Center and more.

“At the Fall Open House, prospective students can really get a good ‘feel’ for the academic and campus environment,” Gierach said.
