Saint Xavier University Brings Home the Silver Medal

Web site wins national award

CHICAGO (Feb. 24, 2005) – Admissions Marketing Report, the Atlanta-based national student recruitment publication, has awarded Saint Xavier University with a silver medal in its 20th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards.

Each year, numerous institutions of higher education enter the contest, competing in various categories from newspaper advertising to newsletters.

Saint Xavier’s Web site design by LiquidMatrix Corporation joins the company of fellow winners, Cornell University’s Engineering program and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

"We are delighted to have an award-winning Web site,” said Dr. Steve Murphy, vice president for enrollment and student services at Saint Xavier. “This award recognizes the extraordinary teamwork of dozens of people on the project team, especially project director Maggie Eaheart.” 

Thousands of entries were submitted, and of those, more than 100 were for Web sites, according to Jan Lok, publisher of HMR Publications, which publishes Admissions Marketing Report. 
“The Web sites are judged on content, design, usability, consumer appeal, creativity and overall rating of the judges,” Lok said. A panel of more than 40 judges, consisting of the publication’s editorial staff, marketing consultants as well as professionals from advertising agencies and schools, reviewed the entries.

“The Web site is now the 'front door' of the University for prospective students, and a vibrant and attractive source of information for current students, faculty, staff and alumni,” Murphy said. “We know that a quality Web site requires constant attention, so we will never be 'finished' with it.  But this kind of recognition lets us know that we are heading in the right direction, and we will continue to do so.”
